Felix Karthaus

Felix, born in Utrecht, Netherlands, moved to the UK in 1968 and graduated from Aberdeen University in forestry in 1974. He has a wide experience of forestry in the UK and has been at the forefront of involving IT in forestry. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Foresters. In 1996 he first visited Estonia. Since then he has been fascinated by the opportunities that management of semi natural Baltic woodlands offer in terms of sustainable commercial forestry. “It is as if the textbooks have come alive”. He spends a week per month in the Baltics, working with his team of locals to ensure the highest standards of management are achieved and maintained. He is also Chairman of ESTKinnisvara , daughter property company, which assists Fest-Forest clients' in any property development potential of their woodlands.

 

Jane Karthaus

Jane has an MA in geography from Aberdeen University, where she met Felix, and an MSc in recreational land management from Reading University.  Jane assists in the management of Border Consultants business locally, and is communications director of the Confederation of Forest Industries She is editor of Forestry & Timber News and occasionally contributes to other publications.

 

 

Netty Horne

 

Netty, a native Glaswegian, joined Border Consultants in 2000.  She graduated with a BSc in forestry in Idaho, USA in 1999. 

 She operates from Stirling but looks after forests from Jedburgh to Fort William.  In her spare time she likes hill walking with Duke, her Bernese mountain dog, and she is also an active member of the local hockey club.

 

 

 

 

Kathleen Williamson

Kathleen, who joined Border Consultants in 1989 is our book-keeper.  She takes pride in keeping our accounts and those of clients in order to two decimal places. Kathleen is also a keen walker and often leads local groups of walkers.  She is very much involved in Belford community life and a trustee of the Bellview Trust; a local charity which has successfully raised large funds to create a local old-peoples' day centre.

Susan Fields

Susan, who joined Border Consultants in 1990 looks after our administration.  Apart from recording and analysing harvesting, liasing with contractors and keeping abreast of the ever changing Forestry Commission grant schemes, she is our sustainable forestry certification administrator.
